Baku / 06.10.17 / Turan: The Nasimi district court of Baku extended for another two months the term of arrest of the deputy chairman of the Popular Front Party Gezal Bayramli.
As the lawyer Zibeyda Sadigova told Turan, the idea of extending the arrest was made by Deputy Prosecutor General Rustam Usubov.

At trial Bayramli protested, saying she was not guilty and she was kept in prison because of her political activities. "My arrest is politically motivated; I have been imprisoned for five months and for all this time I was interrogated only once. So far there have been 17 court hearings, but none of my petitions was satisfied," Bayramli said.

She also noted she does not shy away from the investigation and she has serious health problems.

In response, the prosecutor said that if released, Bayramli could go to Georgia and put pressure on witnesses.

After that, the court decided to satisfy the Prosecutor General"s Office"s proposal and prolong the arrest of Bayramli for another 2 months.

According to the lawyer, Bayramli hardly stood on her feet.

* Recall that Bayramli was arrested on May 25 this year when returning from Georgia and accused of smuggling 12,000 dollars. Then the court arrested her for 3 months. She rejected the accusations and called them politically motivated. Human rights organizations have recognized her as a political prisoner. -03B-
