The essence of the idea of creating the Agency for Food Security, the quality of justice, the decline in potato production, and the situation in the women's labor market are the leading topics of today's press.
The newspaper Azerbaijan understands the essence of creating the Agency for Food Security, providing citizens with quality food products. To create this entity, the Statute was signed on November 13. The activity of this body will begin in 2018. Control over food security is one of the tasks of the new body, the administration of which will consist of 75 people. It is also planned to establish the Institute for Food Security.
The newspaper Novoye Vremya published an article entitled Reforms Needed, Not Increase in Number of Judges. Against the background of the unfavorable situation in the field of protecting the rights of citizens, caused by the liquidation of the institution of legal representatives, it is proposed to increase the number of judges. The number of judges in Azerbaijan should be doubled, and in this connection it will be necessary to limit the amount of funds allocated to other spheres and send them for these purposes. The number of judges per thousand people in Azerbaijan lags far behind European countries. As for the direct issue of increasing the number of judges, in this, in principle, nothing is wrong. But first of all, it is still necessary to ensure the quality of justice.
The site Azadliq.info draws attention to the decline in potato production. The situation is commented on by the expert Vahid Maharramli. He asserts that Azerbaijan cannot meet the need for potatoes at its own expense. The expert gives the figures for potato production by years. In view of the increase in the area under crops for cotton, the area under potatoes decreased by 2,000 hectares in 2017. Potatoes are imported mainly from Russia, Georgia, Iran and other CIS countries. -0-
