Director of "Channel 13" sentenced to 6 years
Baku/15.12.17/Turan: Baku Court for Serious Crimes sentenced Aziz Orujov, director of Internet channel "Channel 13" on Friday. Judge Mirza Khankishiyev found him guilty of illegal business and misappropriation, and convicted for 6 years of imprisonment. Prior to this, the lawyer and Orujov himself had been asked for excuses in connection with the absence of corpus delicti.
Lawyer Javad Javadov called the verdict "absurd" and having no basis. The defense will appeal. It should be recalled that the charges of the investigation were based on the fact that "Channel 13" receives illegal financing from abroad (grants) that are not registered with the Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan. -16D-
