AMDP considers politically motivated arrest of its activist

Baku / 27.12.17 / Turan: Nizami Hakhverdiyev (Nizami Garaoglu), the chairman of the Gazakh regional organization of the Azerbaijan Movement for Democracy and Prosperity (AMDP), was arrested for 15 days on charges of not paying alimony. However, the AMDP considers the charge not to be well-founded. "The fact is that Garaoglu has long been pursued, and this is due to his active political activities," Adalat Yusubov, AMDP deputy chairman, said to Turan.

According to him, because of financial difficulties, in July-September, Garaoglu was in Turkey on earnings. Returning, he did not find his wife and children. As it turned out, they moved to his brother-in-law.

"Although Garaoglu did not divorce, he was ordered to pay alimony, and he himself was not notified of this. On December 20, the court agents summoned him to the Gazakh District Court and immediately sentenced him to 15 days in administrative arrest, accusing him of not paying alimony," Yusubov said.

In the AMDP, the arrest of Garaoglu is considered politically motivated. AMDP was established in December 2014 by a group of activists who left the Musavat party. The organization is headed by the well-known economic expert Gubad Ibadoglu. -05B06-
