Investigation Completed on New Charge against Taleh Bagirzadeh

Baku / 28.12.17 / Tutran: The leader of the movement Muslim Unity Taleh Bagirzadeh (Bagirov) has been again accused in the Gobustan prison on Article 317-2.1 (storage of prohibited items in prison) of the Criminal Code.

"On December 27 in the Gobustan prison, with my participation, the investigator of the Investigation Department of the Ministry of Justice announced Taleh Bagirzadeh a new charge under Article 317-2.1. According to the prosecution, on July 31, 7 units of "micro SD" memory cards were seized from Bagirzadeh. The examinations carried out showed that they contain the Koran, the interpretation of the Koran and other information," Javadov said.

According to him, there is no content prohibited by law in the memory cards.

"Taleh Bagirzadeh does not plead guilty and refuses to give evidence. He said he would testify in court. For this reason, I cannot provide more information," said the lawyer.

According to him, the investigation in the criminal case is completed and the process is at the stage of familiarizing the defense with the case materials.

On December 27, Javadov also met in the Gobustan prison with the activist of the movement Muslim Unity Abbas Huseynov and the leader of the Islamic Party Movsum Samedov.

Their state of health is normal, the lawyer said.

* Taleh Bagirzadeh was arrested along with dozens of his supporters on November 26 during a special operation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the village of Nardaran.

Subsequently, Bagirzadeh was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment on charges of trying to seize power and change the existing political system. -06B-
