Baku / 23.08.17 / Turan: On 23 August the Baku Court of Appeal rejected the complaint of the arrested journalist Afgan Mukhtarly, who complained about the illegality of the extension of his arrest. The complaint was examined in closed mode. The defense demanded that the decision of the Nasimi court be revoked on August 17.
"The Nasimi court motivated the extension of the term of arrest by the fact that Mukhtarli, being at large, can evade the investigation and again commit a crime. I stated that the decision was unreasonable, and the court did not give reasons for its decision, although the law requires sufficient justification when deciding to arrest," said the lawyer Elchin Sadygov.
According to him, the investigation did not bring the materials of the criminal case to court, and under such circumstances the case can not be considered. However, the court did not consider the arguments of the defense reasoned and refused to satisfy the complaint. The lawyer stated that he would file a complaint with the European Court .-- 05B-
