Baku/09.08.17/Turan: Baku Appeals Court (BCA) rejected today the complaint about the illegal arrest of the deputy chairman of the Popular front party Gezal Bayramli. The defense believes that Bayramli was illegally detained on May 25 at the crossing of the Georgian-Azerbaijani border. The Nasimi district court of Baku on July 31 rejected a complaint about illegal crossing, and the defense challenged this decision in BCA. The trial held today in the BCA was closed. The jury under the chairmanship of Vagif Mursagulov declared the complaint groundless, lawyer Elchin Sadygov told Turan. According to him, in court Bayramli complained about the conditions of detention.
Although they returned her medicine, seized by the investigation, she was not given medical prescriptions and she does not know how to take medicines. Bayramli also reported that she fell into the pretrial detention center two days ago because of an exacerbation of arthrosis in her left leg. When she fell, she also injured her right leg. An X-ray examination was performed, which revealed bone damage, but she was not given the necessary treatment, she said.
* Bayramli was detained on May 25 on her return from Georgia. She was accused of smuggling, in particular, an attempt to import undeclared $12000. A lawsuit was filed against her.
On the night of May 27, the court ruled on her arrest. Bayramly herself rejected the charges and called them politically motivated. -05B06-
