Customs confiscated one and a half tons of sturgeon

Baku/12.01.18/Turan: On 12 January the Baku customs detained smuggling into the country almost one and a half tons of sturgeon, the Customs Committee. Smuggling was detected in a Kamaz truck driven by the Azerbaijani citizen Mamedov Ramin, who was returning on board the vessel "Mercury-1" from Aktau port in Baku. Stolen sturgeons were discovered during the inspection of the Baku seaport. In fact, the investigation has started.

It should be noted that sturgeon are included in the Red Book and their production is prohibited by international conventions and strictly regulated by national quotas. However, the markets of Baku and other Caspian countries are full of poaching sturgeon and black caviar. -02D-
