Kiev court delays the announcement of the decision on the case of Fikret Huseynli
Baku / 22.11.17 / Turan: Today the Court of Appeal of the city of Kiev must announce a decision on the case of journalist Fikret Huseynli. The announcement of the decision was scheduled for January 16 at 10:30 local time, but delays it for unclear reasons. "I am still in the courthouse, waiting for a decision," Turan Huseynli said at 6 pm Baku time.
The journalist Huseynli, who emigrated from Azerbaijan to the Netherlands and received the citizenship of this country, was detained on October 14 when leaving Kiev for Dusseldorf on the basis of Azerbaijan's request through Interpol. In Azerbaijan he is accused of fraud and illegal border crossing. On October 18, the Borispol City Court of Ukraine arrested him for 18 days to consider the issue of his extradition to Azerbaijan. Huseynli rejects accusations and considers the criminal case against him to be a political order.
On October 27, Lukyanovka Court of Kiev released Huseynli on bails of Mykola Kniazhitsky, deputy of Verkhovna Rada and public figure Boris Zakharov. At the same time, the court rejected the state prosecutor's request to extradite Huseynli to Azerbaijan. The Kiev prosecutor's office filed an appeal against the release of Huseynli and demands his arrest. On December 27, the period for considering the protest expired. Today, the appellate court must announce a decision. -03B06-
