There is no disagreement on the aviation agreement: the head of the EU mission
Baku / 17.01.18 / Turan: Last year, after the resumption of negotiations on the "Agreement on Common Aviation Area" with Azerbaijan, two rounds were held and 99% of the text of the agreement was agreed, the head of the EU representation in Baku Kestutis Jankauskas said in an interview with Turan.
According to him, there were no fundamental differences.
"We just need to take the last step. I really hope that this will happen in the near future, "he said.
The aviation agreement is mutually beneficial and will open many opportunities for Azerbaijan: increase the number of tourists, diversify the economy, strengthen Azerbaijan's opportunities to become a transport and logistics center between Europe and Asia.
"The European Union has signed similar agreements with a number of other countries. Our experience shows that all countries, without exception, which signed such agreements, saw impressive growth in
air communications, thanks to the growth of flights, affordable ticket prices and a significant increase in tourists visiting the country, "he said.
It should be noted that prior to the summit of the Eastern Partnership program held in November 2017 in Brussels, Deputy Foreign Minister Mahmud Mammadguliyev announced the possibility of signing an agreement within the framework of the summit. However, for unknown reasons, the agreement was not signed. -71D-
