Baku / 15.03.18 / Turan: The 6th Global Baku Forum under the slogan "Elimination of Differences for the Establishment of an Inclusive Society" opened in Baku on Thursday. The forum, which will continue for three days, involves more than 500 delegates from 50 countries.
The ceremony was attended by President and First Vice-President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Mehriban Aliyeva.
Speaking to the forum participants, I. Aliyev focused on the fact that this year the country celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan People's Republic, which became the first republic in the East, which before the elections in many European countries gave women the right to vote.
Aliyev also spoke about the economy, regional energy and transport and logistics projects.
At present, the South Gas Corridor project, which unites seven countries, is being successfully implemented. Azerbaijan pipelines contribute to the energy security of Europe. Azerbaijan's oil in some countries meets the demand for this energy by 40%.
Touching on the Karabakh conflict, he pointed to the unacceptability of maintaining the current status quo. The conflict can be resolved only on the basis of the resolutions of the UN Security Council, the Helsinki Final Act, and the restoration of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
Prime Minister of Turkey Binali Yildirim also spoke in support of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. He also spoke about the joint steps of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey for the security of the Caucasus region.
Yildirim especially noted the project of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, which allows deliveries of cargoes directly without changing the mode of transport from China to London.
Within the framework of the forum, the VII International Book Summit will be held on March 18-19, which is carried out with the joint initiative of the Library of the US Congress and the Library of Alexandria of Egypt.
The Global Baku Forum has been held since 2013. Its organizer is Nizami Ganjavi International Center.-03C-
