Emin Aslan in Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime? (UPDATED)
Baku / 05.06.18 / Turan: The Mercedes car with the state signs 90 XG 017, in which the lawyer Emin Aslan was kidnapped on June 4, belongs to Mehman Vaghif Oglu Teymurov. This was written by the journalist Khadija Ismayilova on her Facebook page.
According to her, this person was an employee of the Main Directorate for Combating Drugs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Subsequently, in November 2015 he took part in a special operation in the village of Nardaran as an operative of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime (MDCOC) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Therefore, the journalist believes Aslan is kept in MDCOC. By the way, this department has the sad glory of detaining people by kidnapping.
Aslan was detained four days after returning from the United States, where he received a master's degree in law from Syracuse University. He is known for his work in the field of human rights and the preparation of applications to the ECHR.
What can be a claim to this young man is not clear. The Ministry of Internal Affairs does not comment on the kidnapping of the man and does not respond to inquiries from the public and relatives of the kidnapped.
As for the reasons for the incident, public activists believe the authorities are hunting for those who take part in anti-government actions abroad and help organize the financing of the opposition and the Azerbaijani civil society.
An example of such a hunt is the recent kidnapping of an entrepreneur Saleh Rustamov and his nephew. They were tortured in the MDCOC, which did not allow a lawyer to them and did not inform their relatives about their whereabouts.
In addition to these methods, the authorities practice arrests and reprisals against relatives of activists, if they themselves are abroad.-06D-

Lawyer Emin Aslan Detained
Baku / 05.06.18 / Turan: Emin Aslan, a graduate of the Faculty of Law of the prestigious Syracuse University, was detained by some people in civilian clothes and taken away in an unknown direction on the evening of June 4. He was detained near the Park Boulevard Mall on the Seaside Boulevard of Baku, as his relatives told Turan. Those in civilian clothes, without presenting their documents, put Aslan in a Mercedes car and drove away.
Aslan's family members immediately reported the incident to the "102" service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. However, by midnight, it was not possible to clarify the young man's fate. Aslan's friends and activists called to a number of police departments and offices in the center of Baku to establish the place of his detention, but it was in vain. The appeal to the "102" service was transferred for investigation to the 39th police department of the Sabail district.
A few days ago after a 2-year training Aslan received a master's degree from Syracuse University.
In the past, he was known as a lawyer specializing in the protection of human rights. He prepared a number of complaints of Azerbaijani citizens to the European Court of Human Rights. -03D06 ---
