Emin Aslan Told about Interrogations in MDCOC
Baku / 08.06.18 / Turan: The Baku Court of Appeal on June 8 considered a complaint about the administrative arrest of the lawyer Emin Aslan.
A graduate of the Law Faculty of Syracuse University (USA) Aslan was detained closer to the evening of June 4 in front of Park Boulevard Mall. Three people in plain clothes, without explanation, seated Aslanov into a car with license plates 90 XG 017 and drove away in an unknown direction. Only a day later it became known that he is kept in the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime (MDCOC) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
On June 5 evening the court sentenced him to 30 days of administrative arrest on charges of not submitting to the police.
In the Court of Appeal, he rejected the administrative offense that he had allegedly committed. He said he was detained in front of Park Boulevard Mall on June 8 at 17:30, and not in Narimanov Park at 23:30 as written in the police report.
Aslan was brought to the MDCOC of the MIA, where they began to question him about his studies in the United States, cooperation with Meydan TV, employees of this publication, their salary, and the project manager, Emin Milli.
Aslan said he used to be a columnist for Meydan TV, but for two years he has had no connections with this publication and in general he did not know anyone there, except Milli.
None of the eight defense motions were granted. In particular, the lawyer Elchin Sadigov petitioned to attach to the case the testimony of the witnesses of Aslan's detention in front of Park Boulevard at 17:30, interrogate additional witnesses of this event, and request records from the CCTV cameras in this territory.
The court rejected the appeal.
The human rights activist Anar Mammadli stated about the political nature of the case against Aslan. "This is obviously a political matter, which is confirmed by the questions they asked Emin Aslan in the police. Emin was questioned about his human rights and legal work in the past, and his cooperation with Meydan TV," Mammadli said. -06D--
