Baku Subway Closed Due to Unique Transformer

Baku / 04.07.18 / Turan: On July 4 Baku Subway will not work. The other types of urban transport will operate in a special mode and free of charge. This is stated in a joint statement of the Ministry of Communications, the Transport Agency and the Subway of the capital.

The reason for closing the subway on Wednesday was work on testing the equipment of the underground after failures with electricity on July 3. The night before, thousands of passengers were stuck in trains and had to get out through the tunnels.

Currently, hundreds of people crowd in front of subway stations, waiting for buses that are moving in different directions.

However, buses can cover no more than 10% of the needs of citizens, because the number of passengers using the subway daily exceeds half a million people.

The collapse of the transport system of the capital has become a logical continuation of the collapse of the country's energy system, which allegedly "has no analogues in the world".

Until now, no member of the government has considered it necessary to address the citizens with explanations about the current situation. The authorities are not in a position to explain why the whole country depends on one unfortunate transformer. -02D-
