Akram Aylisli on the presentation of his book in the US
Baku / 09.01.19 / Turan: Due to the restriction imposed by the law enforcement agencies of Azerbaijan, the writer Akram Aylisli could not take part in the presentation of his book in Washington on January 8.
In an interview with Turan the writer said that his book titled "Goodbye Ailis" was published in English in the USA, and includes: the novels "Yemen", "Stone Dreams", "Grand Cork", and "Farewell to Aylis.
" The writer explained that "Farewell to Ailis" is an unconventional novel in three narratives. It was not published in Azerbaijani and Russian, and was first published in English in this edition.
The author called this work "Confession." The novel is written in lyrical tones and conveys the emotional experiences of the past years of the author himself, who was persecuted after the publication of "The Stone Dreams."
These emotional experiences, according to the writer, are very similar to the feelings of the hero of "The Stone dreams".
For six years now, a writer has not been able to attend international literary events where he has been invited. He is also deprived of the opportunity to leave the country for treatment.
To the question of whether the writer continues his creative work, Aylisli replied: "I have serious health problems, and during the past six years only my creative activity helps me".
Two years ago, he published another novel in the Russian magazine "Drujba Narodov" - "Where irises do not grow".
The 81-year-old writer had previously appealed to the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan with a request to lift the ban on leaving the country in order to leave for treatment. However, the question did not find a solution.
Two and half years ago a lawsuit was filed against him, about allegedly beating by an elderly writer a border guard officer at the Baku airport, and it has not been closed yet.
"Obviously, they started this case to prevent me from going to a literary event in Italy. But 2.5 years have passed , but they have not closed the case yet," said Aylisli.
The other day, he was again deprived of the opportunity to participate in a literary event in Switzerland. -06B-
