November 12 - Constitution Day
Baku / 12.11.19 / Turan: November 12 is celebrated as Constitution Day in Azerbaijan.
The first Constitution of independent Azerbaijan was adopted on November 12, 1995 at a popular vote.
Over the past 23 years, the Constitution has undergone changes and amendments three times in referenda on August 24, 2002, March 18, 2009 and September 26, 2016.
Until 2009, November 12th was celebrated as a public holiday. However, later this day, although it remained festive, it ceased to be a day off. -06D-

On March 28, the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) announced decisions and rulings on 21 applications from Azerbaijan. "The case of Azer Mursaliyev v. Azerbaijan" was related to the violation of the right to respect for private life. The applicant is the nephew of the former rector of the International University of Azerbaijan, Elshad Abdullayev, who is in political exile.
