Earle D. Litzenberger
New U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan to be sworn in today
Earle Litzenberger will be officially sworn in as U.S. ambassador to Azerbaijan today, February 19, filling a position that had been vacant for about 10 months, TURAN's U.S. correspondent reports.
David Hale, under secretary of state for political affairs, will officiate the swearing-in ceremony for the new ambassador, according to the State Department.
Litzenberger, who was confirmed as the new ambassador by the Senate later last year, has been characterized by his colleagues as "uniquely qualified" for the job.
He is expected to be in Baku "very soon", a State Department source told Turan.
