Rally in Brussels dedicated to the 27th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide
Baku / 24.02.19 / Turan: A rally dedicated to the 27th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide was held on Saturday in Brussels. The action was organized by the unions of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Europe. Its participants called for the recognition and condemnation of the Khojaly genocide. According to the State Committee for Work with Diaspora Organizations of Azerbaijan, about 800 Azerbaijanis from different European countries, as well as representatives of foreign diaspora organizations friendly to Azerbaijan participated in the rally. Representatives of organizations of Azerbaijani diasporas spoke in English, German, French, Italian, Romanian and other languages with the slogans "Justice for Khojaly!", "Azerbaijan wants peace!", "Do not kill innocent babies", "Say a stop of Armenian lies!", " We want to return to Karabakh! "," Freedom to Dilgam and Shahbaz! ". They addressed their appeals to the European Parliament and international organizations.
The rally participants gave a political and legal assessment of the Khojaly genocide, committed by Armenia 27 years ago. They demanded that pressure be exerted on Armenia in order to withdraw the troops of the occupied Azerbaijani territories so that the internally displaced could return there, as well as the release of all Azerbaijani prisoners and hostages, including Dilgam Asgarov and Shahbaz Guliyev. At the end of the action, an appeal was addressed to the European Parliament. The appeal was sent to approximately 2,000 addresses, including those in charge of the European Parliament, international organizations, embassies and many heads of state and government. During the rally, brochures on the moral and material losses of Azerbaijan due to the aggressive policy of Armenia were distributed to local residents. The rally was covered by foreign media, as well as in social networks.
The Azerbaijani city of Khojaly in Nagorno-Karabakh was captured on the night of February 25-26 by Armenian armed forces with the support of the 366th regiment of the former Soviet Army.
