Azerbaijan is deprived of bronze at the 2012 Olympic Weightlifting Championship
Baku/29.03.19/Turan: Bulgarian weightlifter Valentin Hristov, who spoke for Azerbaijan, was deprived of the bronze medal of the London 2012 Olympic Games, reported the press service of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
According to the press release, Khristov was convicted of violating anti-doping rules. At the same time, Khristov retains the right to appeal to the Sports Arbitration Court or the IOC Disciplinary Commission.
Now, the bronze medal of the 2012 Olympics will be transferred to the Vietnamese weightlifter Tran Le Coque and Toan.
Khristov, in accordance with the order of the President of Azerbaijan, was awarded a cash prize of 100 thousand manats, and his trainer - 50 thousand manats.
In addition, the National Olympic Committee awarded him 50,000 manat, and the coach - 25,000 manat. Thus, a total of 225,000 manat was allocated for the promotion of Christ and his coach, which was equivalent to 285,000 dollars at the exchange rate at that time.
It should be noted that at that time the Weightlifting Federation of Azerbaijan, led by AZAL President Jahangir Askerov, relied on the Bulgarian legionaries. At the same time, the Federation missed the promising local weightlifter Nijat Rahimov, who in 2016 at the games in Rio became the champion, playing for Kazakhstan. -06D--
