Protest rally of mothers convicted in the Ganja case
Baku/21.08.19/ Turan: On August 21, a group of mothers of people convicted in the Ganja riots case last July held a protest rally. Several dozen people took the march from the Martyrs' Alley to the presidential administration to express their dissatisfaction with the "falsification of the trial and the punishment of innocent people." Some of the women protested with slogans: "Release my son or arrest me too!" "My son was sitting on a bench; he did not kill anyone, he did not break, and for this he is imprisoned to eight years. Is it possible? ", one of the protesters was indignant.
"For 13 months now we have been tormented and poked around in the streets. What is this arbitrariness? The officials are biting each other, and we are suffering. The events in Ganja are precisely the result of a squabble between the authorities; let them figure it out, what do ordinary people have to do with it? ", another participant of the action was indignant.
Those who gathered for the protest were also outraged by the "custom" report on the REAL TV channel, where allegations of rioting by religious radicals were again voiced. In addition, investigative materials were shown in the report, which indicates a political order, the mothers of the arrested noted. They threatened to sue Mirshakhin Agayev, the author of the television report.
Police orders summoned to the scene stopped the march of women to the presidential administration. At the same time, they detained one of the participants - Sevinj Huseynova, bringing her to the 9th police station. At the same time, two protesters were invited to a meeting at the presidential administration.

On the same day, the MJD reported riots in Ganja, during which two police officers were killed. Following this, mass arrests were carried out among believers and others.

In the annals of Azerbaijan's oil-rich history, the name Witold Zglenicki may not readily come to mind, yet his contributions to the burgeoning oil industry of the late 19th and early 20th centuries are profound and enduring. As the Polish Embassy in Azerbaijan recently commemorated his legacy on April 22 with the presentation of a book detailing his remarkable life, questions arise about why this towering figure remains largely overlooked in the streets and monuments of Baku.
