E. Mammadyarov: Azerbaijan Is Largest Supplier of Crude Oil to Italy
Baku / 09/18/19 / Turan: The issues of developing relations between Azerbaijan and Italy were discussed by the heads of the foreign affairs agencies of the two countries, Elmar Mammadyarov and Luigi Di Mayo, in Rome on September 18.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Di Mayo noted during the meeting that the two countries have an extensive economic agenda, Italian companies are successfully doing business in Azerbaijan and are interested in using new economic opportunities in the country.
Mammadyarov, for his part, said that Italy is Azerbaijan"s largest trading partner. At the same time, Azerbaijan is the largest supplier of crude oil to this country. In addition, Azerbaijan is the largest importer of Italian products in the region. Italian companies successfully operate both in the oil and non-oil sectors of the Azerbaijani economy.
The Minister expressed confidence that the Southern Gas Corridor and its component TAP will serve to strengthen the energy security of Europe, including Italy.
The contribution of Italy to the cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union was also discussed at the meeting, and an exchange of views on regional security issues took place. Mammadyarov informed the interlocutor about the current state of negotiations on the Karabakh settlement and called on Italy, as a member of the OSCE Minsk Group, to keep the issue in the spotlight. -06D--
