Amnesty International Launches Campaign in Defense of Tofig Yagublu
Baku / 26.03.20 / Turan: The international human rights organization Amnesty International launched a campaign in defense of the opposition politician Tofig Yagublu arrested in Azerbaijan.
In its appeal to President Ilham Aliyev, the organization calls for the release of Yagublu, who is a member of the Musavat party and the National Council of Democratic Forces of Azerbaijan.
Amnesty International calls for mass distribution of an appeal to the head of Azerbaijan, which says that Yagublu was arrested on March 22 and falsely accused of hooliganism. His family is concerned about the politician’s health amid the spreading Corona Virus infection COVID-19 in Azerbaijan.
The petition also states that Yagublu had previously been arrested for political reasons.
The appeal proposes to release Yagublu from custody and to investigate his case with ensuring fair justice.
It also calls for an end to the pressure on Yagublu and for freedom of expression and assembly for every citizen of the country. https://www.amnesty.org/.../Documents/EUR5520292020ENGLISH.pdf -06D-
