According to the police, the deceased, at 23 o'clock along with his guests (three women and three men) came to the hotel from the restaurant and went up to the room. The interrogation of Aliyev's guests showed that while resting in his room, he took a pistol from his belt and jokingly put it to his head. To the exclamations of the guests that it was dangerous, Aliyev said that the weapon was not loaded, to which the guests said, "the devil could have loaded it." Aliyev pulled the trigger and a shot rang out.
Upon hearing the shooting, the hotel staff called the police. The seriously wounded Aliyev was taken to the hospital, but it was not possible to save him.
According to “Sabah”, the police continue to question witnesses and have not yet made statements to the press.
The state-owned company SOCAR itself does not comment on the incident. According to some reports, 40-year-old Nihad Aliyev is a cousin of SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev. According to some reports, the deceased was the second person in SOCAR Trading.

SOCAR employee killed in Istanbul hotel

Earlier, an expat journalist Habib Muntazir reported that the murder took place in a hotel in Istanbul's Besiktas district on March 25.
