Macron talks about peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the need for dialogue
Paris/01.06.21/Turan: France will contribute to the restoration of peace and the development of dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan, said on Tuesday French President Emmanuel Macron at a meeting with acting Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan in Paris.
"As the co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, together with Russia and the United States, France intends to do everything to achieve de-escalation and restoration of dialogue, including direct, between the parties," the French leader said. He stressed that "in connection with the recent events on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan, its delimitation should be carried out only through negotiations and without the use of force."
Macron noted that, "Azerbaijani troops must leave the territory of Armenia." "The parties must return to the positions before May 11," he said and noted that, "the ceasefire is generally observed in Nagorno-Karabakh, but there is still much to be done." "France is ready to continue its support of the population," Macron assured. "I also think about the need to release all prisoners, lift restrictions on access for humanitarian organizations and the complex issue of mined areas," he concluded. -02D-
