Iranian President promised a full investigation into the attack on the embassy
Baku/28.01.23/Turan: On Saturday evening, Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi called President Ilham Aliyev and "conveyed the condolences of the Iranian government and people over the incident at the Azerbaijani embassy to Tehran," the IRNA news agency reported.
Raisi also stated that "the governments of Iran and Azerbaijan will not allow their relations to be influenced by the insinuations of the ill-wishers of the two nations."
Raisi promised that the crime will be comprehensively and fully investigated.
According to the IRNA report, Ilham Aliyev thanked Raisi for his condolences and stated that "cooperation between the two countries should be such that no incidents could disrupt the friendly relations between the two countries."
In turn, the press service of the President of Azerbaijan reported that Ilham Aliyev sharply condemned the "terror attack against the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran" and expressed hope for a comprehensive and appropriate punishment of the perpetrators. He also noted the need for a transparent investigation.
Aliyev also stressed the threat to the lives of other embassy employees and their families and noted the need for appropriate protection of diplomatic missions. -02D-
