"Today we can enter the era of peace in the South Caucasus" - Ilham Aliyev
Baku/02.10.23/Turan: With the restoration of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, the South Caucasus can enter an era of peace, President Ilham Aliyev said.
"The experience of restoring our territorial integrity is a very unique and inimitable phenomenon. We have put an end to the conflict. As a result of the resolution of this conflict, we have preserved our dignity and restored international law," he said today during a speech at the opening ceremony of the 74th International Astronautical Congress in Baku. "Today we can enter the era of peace in the South Caucasus. This is our opinion. Cooperation, mutually beneficial projects, mutual benefits - we are demonstrating all this today," the head of state emphasized.
Also, Aliyev touched upon the role of Azerbaijan as a supplier of energy resources in Europe.
"We have initiated a number of projects and successfully implemented them together with our partners. Thus, we have ensured the energy security not only of our region, but of the wider region as a whole... Azerbaijan is a reliable supplier of energy resources to international markets and is valued by the European Union as a pan-European supplier," the head of state continued.
He also expressed satisfaction with Azerbaijan's cooperation with European institutions.
"We are successfully developing cooperation with European institutions. Azerbaijan has signed declarations on strategic partnership with seven EU members. This actually demonstrates our foreign policy agenda, which is absolutely open and, as I have already said, aimed at cooperation and wider regional participation and inclusiveness," Aliyev continued.
At that, the head of state focused on Azerbaijan's participation in the Non-Aligned Movement.
"For the fourth year we have been leading the Non-Aligned Movement, which is the second largest international institution after the UN. Our chairmanship in this organization was extended by a unanimous decision of 120 countries. This is indeed a manifestation of the broad international support that Azerbaijan has," Aliyev further noted. -06D-
