Over 100 intellectuals asked Ilham Aliyev to release Gubad Ibadoglu
Baku / 08.05.23 / Turan: A large group of representatives of the creative and scientific intelligentsia, civil society, the media and legal community of Azerbaijan appealed to President Ilham Aliyev with a request to assist in the release of economist Gubad Ibadoglu.
The appeal points to the scientific merits of Ibadoglu, his scientific and pedagogical activities at leading universities in the US, Great Britain, Hungary, participation in a number of international coalitions on transparency.
The authors of the appeal point out that the arrest of such a well-known scientist in the world damages the country's international image, gives an occasion to the enemies of Azerbaijan to use the Ibadoglu case to form and promote false negative narratives about the country.
“In this regard, we, a group of representatives of the country's intelligentsia, have decided to ask you to release a well-known Azerbaijani scientist from prison. We ask you to take this case, which casts a shadow on the name and reputation of our country, under your personal control. We believe that given the serious health problems that have arisen
Gubad Ibadoglu You will render assistance for the release of an innocent scientist,” the address to the President of Azerbaijan said in conclusion.
The appeal was signed by more than 100 people.
